from Winter Hours (2009)

MY TAKE: I am besmitten by the lush arrangements and glorious harmonies of Deep Dark Woods, dream folk indies from Saskatchewan who got polished up in a Vancouver studio and hit the road to exfoliate the excess.

Farewell represents them well, with a ‘be careful what you wish for’ theme I almost missed: Fella decides to move somewhere cold and ends up somewhere cold all right. I can’t resist also sharing The Birds on the Bridge, All The Money I Had Is Gone and Charlie’s (Is Coming Down)…and there’s lots more.
