go betweens

.

MY TAKE: The Go-Betweens were a light-sounding but hard-biting 80’s band and this was their most ‘popular’; it got all the way to #80 in the UK – woot! Its about the decay and rot behind the tourist facades of their native Brisbane, so a cheery summery afternoon take by minor UK romantic pop band Cherry Orchard is a bit of  a surprise. It really works (ignore the butcher with his knife bit and hone in on the carefree handclaps) and if it serves as an entry point to the Go-Betweens, so much the better.
