Hip Hatchet – Joy and Better Days ….. 9/10

Day drinking in Seattle

PHILIPPE BRONCHTEIN  calls himself Hip Hatchet, which is excusable because he is a brilliant and original new, independent talent.

In what reads like a John Irving novel, he was born in New Jersey, moved with his family to Montreal, went to uni in Vermont and then felt the calling to drive himself cross country to Portland. Joy and Better Days is about all that: settling in a new city and all the things you think about while driving along. (Also, if you listen to the songs in order and look at a map, he apparently did some detouring and sleeping around).

Here he talks about writing Sing Me A Reprise to a radio DJ Thompson.
