Would love it if you’d consider reviewing Itchy Teeth’s new pysch-pop ode to their hero ‘Brian Wilson Is Still Alive’ on Tincanland.

Itchy Teeth – ‘Brian Wilson Is Still Alive’ (Release date – 27th October)

Part garage, part experimental pop, Itchy Teeth continue their idiosyncratic deconstructions of music and their lives with new single ‘Brian Wilson is Still Alive’ – after a year containing 150 gigs around Europe, it’s clear that their weird experiences have crept into their sound. The London / Margate / Germany based band have moved into more psychedelic and strange territory from their debut album.

The song is an ode to their musical hero Brian Wilson. The band say “Everybody knows the predictable story of the beautiful and dead 27 year old, upon whom pop music’s mythology is built, however, as much as Brian Wilson should have died from the strange substances he consumed, he escaped this fate – meaning either…. He’s not human, some otherworldly aura protects him or the strange substances actually helped him survive.

Needless to say, I’m definitely looking forward to sharing her new single, “Deadly Doll”, with Tincanland because I think it’s right up your alley.

Co-written with the fantastic Chris Garcia (Lana Del Rey, Demi Lovato) and produced impecably by Jason Lytle (Band of Horses, Grandaddy), Deadly Doll is an expansive, darkly dream of a tune submerged in a country noir aesthetic vibe, and beneath the moody atmosphere the uplifting lyrics talk about a personal form of empowerment against adversity, but that’s just my two cents, what I really want to know is what you think about it.

I hope you have a great time listening!

I’m a singer-songwriter from Finland. I have an EP coming out on 20/09 called ‘The Big Still’. I know you liked ‘Carrie & Lowell’ so I thought you might enjoy my music.

‘Sylvi’ is the second single from the EP and it’s a song about my grandmother’s childhood.

Grant Earl LaValley – New Album 10/13 – Outsider Beauty from the Joshua Tree Desert

I wanted to reach out to you about an album we are releasing on the label on 10/13 (vinyl / digital) by Joshua Tree, California’s, Grant Earl Lavalley—-and wanted to share the first single, “The In-Betweens,” which you can check out here: https://goo.gl/4t27zy

Grant Earl Lavalley is an American singer-songwriter. Ohio’s misfit son exposed to harsher California desert landscapes delivers on the long lost love letters you waited for at the mailbox all of those years. Hoping for a promise of return, you receive word of yet another lonely voyage. Are you remembered?

Isolation waters the fertile land stretching out in all directions. LaValley’s unapologetic crooning calls the banshees back from the frozen wilderness and welcomes them into his modest desert cabin.

A small crew of creative visitors contribute to LaValley’s debut full length, From LaValley Below. Harmonica, lap-steel, and female vocals move around acoustic guitar, all the while the crestfallen and introspective lyrics roll downstream like gravel under water, catching the light and sweeping the riverbank grasses along with it. A kindred spirit with contemporary songwriters like Ryley Walker, LaValley also conjures images of a gothic Gene Clark collaborating with a desert-dwelling Bonnie “Prince” Billy—with the blessing of Townes Van Zandt.

LaValley’s songs are infused with communalism and camaraderie. However, the album’s creation was not without incident. One day while recording, an unknown neighbor of LaValley’s in the Joshua Tree desert—apparently unnerved by the recording session going on up the hill from their fortified desert home—fired multiple rifle shots into the cabin where LaValley and company were working. Thankfully no one was injured by the potent incursion, but perhaps the incident cast a shadow on the album’s recording. Ultimately, From LaValley Below proves that beauty is bulletproof. We believe that Grant Earl LaValley’s debut full-length illustrates this maxim both literally and figuratively.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I just wanted to reach out to you about an artist that we manage here called Angelica Garcia.

Angelica is an outstanding singer songwriter that we’re delighted to be managing; she released her acclaimed debut album “Medicine For Birds” through Warner Brothers in 2016 that brought her attention in outlets from the New York Times to NPR. Her bio and music can be found on her website: http://www.angelicagarcia.net/about and on soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/angelicagarciamusic

Now 23 years old, Angelica is moving on from the sound of her debut, recorded when she was just 19, and towards a much more unique and alternative sound, inspired by the likes of the White Stripes, Kimbra, Bjork and Radiohead. It’s an exciting time to be seeing Angelica as she finds her voice and brings her outstanding new material to life.

    Very Best Wishes,

    Hi #tincanland,

Hope this message finds you well.

My name is James Yi, and I’m the manager for alternative electronic artist Kelleia. I am familiar with many of the artists on your site, and I think your audience would appreciate Kelleia’s vibe.

Kelleia’s musical essence pays homage to deep emotion and revelation. As a singer, songwriter, and producer with Los Angeles roots, Kelleia navigates through elements of soul, R&B, electronic, and world music with the boldness of a modern siren and the sensuality of a lifelong dancer. Her ethereal melodies and rhythms blend meticulous electronic production with her affinity for playing the harmonium and traditional instruments like the Korean Buk. A powerful presence imbued with a natural grace, Kelleia hypnotizes her audience and charges a room, big or small, with breathtaking intimacy.

Kelleia is the newest artist on an all-female LA-based label Unspeakable Records. Her debut single “Diamond Love” is out now.

I’m an Irish singer/songwriter based in London UK. I’m writing because I’m releasing my first EP entitled “The Nearness of You” and I think it will fit in with a lot of music you like/review. It’s indie/folk kind of stuff I played/sang and co-produced everything bar drums. I took influences from Radiohead, Hozier, John Mayer, Mumford and Son’s, Gregory Alan Isakov, The Middle East, Feist, you prob get the picture.

Here are what I think are the best tracks:

Kansas City, MO blues rock band Scotch Hollow has just dropped its sophomore album, Little Tortuga, which streams at https://soundcloud.com/scotchhollow/albums and https://scotchhollow.bandcamp.com/album/little-tortuga-4

    Scotch Hollow’s EPK: https://www.scotchhollowmusic.com/press-kit

    https://www.scotchhollowmusic.com/home

Scotch Hollow is a roots band that mixes a generous helping of country twang with just enough blues to stir the pot. The group was founded by Mark Verbeck (guitar, songwriter) and vocalist Carly Martin, who met at the Berklee School of Music. Based in Kansas City, MO (after kicking around the Chicago scene for a time), the group now includes JD Linn (bass), Benjamin Scholz (drums, percussion), Brady Buster (harmonica) and Joel Schuman (piano). Verbeck wrote all but three songs and those were written by Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf and Blind Willie Johnson. The performances are as solid and spare as one would expect for this style of music. They certainly can raise a little sand in the down-home way.

Lauren is a fresh artist with a stunning green-eyed stare, but don’t let her petite frame fool you, as she’s a riveting powerhouse with a blues-fury voice and lyrics that sting like whiskey. Lauren and her girlfriend LP are considered a power couple in the LGBTQ community. Also, recently she was included in the Spotify playlist “Badass Womyn.”

I don’t get to listen to very much of what is sent in, but the Lydia Loveless comparison hooked me. I’m quite impressed. Love the Haight-Ashbury wigging out on the one you sent (Heart In The States) and some of the other harder stuff I found on YT, but what will probably separate her from the pack is being to also totally deliver a song like Did I Offend You (Sofar Los Angeles). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEI_-SoTUM4

If she plays Vancouver (Canada), I’m going!

    Hello,

I wanna introduce you to Emma Cole’s new song ‘He Will’. This Big Band Soul banger brings us back to the 60’s and 70’s but has a modern spin on it. The voluptuously petite Emma Cole may be a proud denizen of Echo Park, Los Angeles, but it was her upbringing in Philadelphia that forged her musical soul. With a poetic spirit and powerhouse delivery, her voice soars and sears an emotional ferocity that is all too rare in today’s over sensationalized soundscape.

This EP has been over 2 years in the making. 2 years of turning heartbreak, feeling lost and CELEBRATION into song, 2 years of carefully fine tuning each and every detail of those songs with an awesome and dedicated band, 1 year of set backs and 1 year of overcoming every challenge thrown at us! This project may well be the most challenging thing I’ve ever done but I love it, I am proud of what me and my band have created, grateful for all the hundreds of hours and all the passion poured into this EP’s creation and so excited to share it with you.

It can be purchased for £4 (digital download)/£5 CD from my Bandcamp (franminney.bandcamp.com/album/the-chase) as well as the usual hot spots like iTunes, Amazon etc!

It would mean so, so much to me if you would consider writing about this on Tincanland. I would really love to get your feedback.

    Here’s a little more information about me…
Fran Minney is a singer and songwriter of stories, telling of her own experiences and the wild forces of emotions and nature. Now based in Leeds, Fran is bringing audiences folk-pop with a soulful twist, as well as moments of raw emotion felt through alternative rock influences.

Minney has been featured on BBC Newcastle, BBC Yorkshire and other local radio stations, and has performed as the house band on BBC Yorkshire and on Made in Leeds (TV).

The title track of Minney’s debut EP ‘Leaving Our Bodies’ was named Single of the Month by The Crack magazine and the music video for her song ‘The Chase’ won Leeds Young Music Video Award 2015.
